I think of humans as being at the center with a connection up and out to Spirit and a connection down to the Earth with concentric circles of their energy moving out in all directions.
When something or someone is congruent with their energy, the energy folds it into the appropriate circle. If something is of a different energy, it will bounce off. If it is close, it may come to the edge of the person. The energy flow throughout all levels of this person is consistent and clear. Obviously, this is a perfect person to be totally consistent in all directions. Successful people however do look like this in the areas of success – they glow.
When someone has clear intention their energy flow reaches out to the world and pulls in what is needed.
When we are poorly connected, either short term or generally, the energetic picture is messy and inconsistent. The energy flow can be sporatic to nonexistent. For most of us, our energy flow runs around an obstacle course of our opposing beliefs and ideas. Look around yourself, where is your life vibrant, alive, simple, clean, and easy? Where is it congested, dead, and confused? These are the mirror of your energy flow. The exact same concept is true for your business.
You are at the center of your world and your business fits into the appropriate rings around you, sometimes comfortable and sometimes uncomfortably.
Where does it feel like an extension of who you are and where a discombobulated mess? To the degree that it doesn’t feel comfortable, that is a reflection of the distance between who you are and how your business is being defined. This tells you that you need to reconsider what business you are in and/or look at whether that area is congruent to the rest of your business.
On my website, I say that “Managing holistically means always placing your work within the context of your environment and your total life.”
I find that if I look at my work as a subset of the greater me rather than the other way around, then being holistic is obvious and simple. It never works to have someone else at the center of your business, even when you are working for someone else or when you are married and the marriage and family are your business. When you have other people work for you, then it is called the corporate culture. Employees will stay and do well when their energy is compatible. Energy is not personality. Personality is a reflection of a person’s energy rather than the other way around.
Lastly in all of this, I am defining success as the coherent energy fulfilling the goals of a person which leads to the achievement of something desired, planned, or attempted. This is an internal measure and not the second external meaning of success as in the gaining of fame or prosperity. The one often leads to the other if that is within the goals and the energy field of the person.
