Hi, my name is Reva Seybolt and I’m here today to talk about releasing the energy of others. In other words, how to not be trapped in other people’s energy.
The first thing is that you need to be grounded in your own energy. That means being able to breathe into the Earth and back up so that you’re really grounded in your body. That’s step number one. Hopefully that’s something that you can do most of the time because being grounded is really, really important in being successful and healthy in our lives on Earth.
Second thing is to have a sense of your own energy field. For those of us who are survivors of different kinds of trauma and abuse in childhood which many people are between accidents, surgeries, family issues, sometimes it’s really hard to set our own boundaries.
And one way to do that is to be grounded and then let the energy flow up and out. In other words, breathe into the ground as if you could actually breathe in and out of your feet. Breathe back up as if you bring the energy actually to your feet, up into your body. And then letting it expand out.
My teacher Rosalyn Bruyere used to always say that the one with the biggest aura wins, and that means whoever has the most energy field, the most power, can dominate a situation in ways that other people can’t.
And you can have a big energy field, both through your own energy field and having a really vibrant active body, and having a situation where you have some power by what you do. But most of us are in a situation where it’s just us.
So one of the reasons martial artists have/are very powerful is they’re both grounded in their body. They’re very aware of their energy field and they build that physical body. Half of the aura is a physical issue. You can have a great mental aura, but it only works in the mental plane.
We want to build a physical aura of health and, for me, beauty and happiness. And beauty and happiness comes, to me, via being grounded in my body and appreciating what’s around me. So the way to have the biggest aura is to allow the body to expand the energy field.
The way I also do that is by releasing those belief systems that I have that limit who I am. As a woman in our culture, there are many ways I’m told to be polite, stay small. As someone who’s BIPOC, you’re told every single moment to be small. So what you want to do is let go of those belief systems, through releasing them, so then your energy field can expand. So that helps with the emotional and mental aspects as well as the physical aspects.
I find that when I am connected to Spirit, releasing my belief systems that limit me, and connect to the Earth, I have a much bigger energy field in which I can then support the world and support myself.
When you go into a situation where people are trying to control you, whether it be family or political or otherwise, allowing yourself to be fully present, letting go of the belief systems and the energy that comes up in you in front of those situations allows you to ground and have power.
This is a once over lightly, obviously, each of these topics could be a whole book. But releasing, being grounded, and allowing your body to be fully present are the basics. Then dealing with the situation by releasing and opening to what is appropriate for you in that situation Sometimes it’s not appropriate. Sometimes it is appropriate. When I took martial arts and self-defense, there are times when you support yourself and there are other times when you, it’s not possible and you just have to let what happens happen and do the best you can.
So open to your heart, open to the ground, let the energy move through, release limiting belief systems, and open to the possibility that all is well. Thank you.
