Good health needs space and awareness. Creativity needs space and awareness. Living a life with awareness needs space.
By space, I mean room in your physical, emotional, and mental worlds to rest and be open and the time to do that; the room to hear your heart over the noise of the mind and outer world’s demands.
How to create a life that allows for enough space today?
We have all read the books, listened to the teachers, and know that living a too busy and high pressured life is bad for us on all levels. We live in a culture that is antithetical to space and health. I think that perhaps we do the best we can until the lack of space becomes intolerable and we tweak our schedule. That works for awhile. Our inner/higher self sends us more warning signs which we ignore until we don’t and we crash. We don’t listen until we die or we do listen.
I didn’t really understand the importance of space beyond the obvious until I lost all sense of space and felt totally trapped.
Or to be truthful, I didn’t want to know that deepening into one’s self, into one’s passion, and the Earth requires space and way more space than my ego was interested in allowing.
I have led the normal American Type A busy life and have loved most of it.
Until it all fell apart and didn’t work anymore. Then I dragged into my life crisis and fell out the other side, too tired of struggling and trying to make things happen. The good news was that then I finally was able to really create space internally, physically, and in time. Many of us need a crisis to lead us to allowing space. Happily, I didn’t need to die. I only needed to “practise death” for a couple of years until I could allow enough space to begin to live again.
If I boil down the issues that most folk come to me for, they all grow out of a lack of space: the space to allow, to know and then to create what is really wanted. As we commit to ourselves, there are many paths that we can take to allow more space. Notice what comes to you. Be easy on yourself. You really are where you need to be. Listen to your knowing as best you can. What you want will come. – And these are all true.
Two specific suggestions for creating space that I have found useful and long lasting for many folk are spring cleaning your physical space with Marie Kondo’s The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up and letting go of emotional backlogs with The Sedona Method https://www.sedona.com
